On any given day, Floris can be found blending wine in the cellar, behind his desk in the office, meeting his importer in Tokyo or uncorking bottles for a tasting somewhere in the world.
His preference however is to be sharing a bottle of Chateau Canet “Les Evangiles” with his guests at the domaine. Born in Holland, Floris started coming to France as a young boy when his parents bought a farm near Limoges: a love affair with France started. In the early nineties he came to Beaune to pursue his passion for wine and spent the better part of his working life in there, in the heart of the Burgundian wine industry. He met his wife, Victoria, in the vineyards of Meursault and their two children Oliver and Charlotte were born in the Hospices de Beaune. They all moved to Carcassonne in 2006 to begin their adventure at Chateau Canet.
Victoria loves to make people feel “at home on holiday”. She fine-tuned this skill during sixteen years working for the luxury travel company Butterfield & Robinson at their European office in Beaune, France.
From tour guide, she rose to become the Director of European Operations, a position she held for over ten years. A Dutch father, a mother from New Zealand and with family spread across the globe Victoria has hospitality in her genes! A childhood spent in Thailand and Spain and an education spanning several continents from England to Canada to Mexico has resulted in her understanding exactly how important it is to feel comfortable in an unfamiliar place. She looks forward to making you feel at home at ‘Chez Canet’.
Sophie straddles between the vineyard and the events.
She joined Château Canet team in 2016 as an export assistant and responsible of the oenotourism.
Our newest recruit juggles her time between shipping our wines all over the world and welcoming our guests to the Domaine. No matter the task, her charm and gracious manners keeps everyone happy.
While the rest of us our busy in the vineyards or the cellar, the cottages or in one of our export markets, Emilie, our accountant, manages our office and keeps everything on track on the home front.
Nathalie, a young oenologist, joined the team in 2013 and accompanies our wines from the vineyard to your glass. She oversees the work in the vineyards to ensure we grow great quality grapes and in the cellar is responsible for their vinification, aging, blending and bottling.
Denis known fondly as ‘Papi’ has lived at Château Canet for over 35 years. He has planted most of our vineyards and lovingly tends to them come rain or shine to enusre the quality of our grapes.
Cyril works along side Denis and is responsible for maintaining the vineyards and olive groves in perfect condition. If you have the chance of meeting him during your stay you can be sure that he will be more than happy to share his knowledge and experience of our “terroir” .
Philippe joined Château Canet in 2013, bringing valuable experience to our cellar and bottling line. He looks after the wines on a day to day basis and spends many hours, together with Floris and Nathalie, making the blends of Château Canet.
David works between the cellar and the vineyards. He is our hands on man for our bottling line; a complicated machine that he runs with finesse.
Christophe as been linked with Château Canet since is youngest age and it’s in a natural way that he decided in 2015 to join our team.
Christophe mainly works at the bottling line but you can also find him in the vineyard. His flexibility and reactivity are essential qualities for this quid of job where we often have to work under pressure.
Maintenance on an old place like Chateau Canet is an never ending story. You add to that all the plans and ideas for improvements and you have the busiest job at Chateau Canet. Emilio keeps Chateau Canet functioning and looking good at all times.
Jane welcomes our guests with her friendly smile and understands the importance of great service. Whether you are here on holiday or coming by for a wine tasting she is always keen to share her love of the region and her enthusiasm is contagious.
